Julia Klot transitions from her indie-pop debut album “Brooklyn” to a more soulful & serene pop sound with her new EP “Ghost” out on 3/19/20!

Julia Klot’s new thematic EP features 5 heart wrenching tracks that paint a picture of the beautiful yet complicated progression of love. “Ghost” talks about the loss of a person, and how the memory of that person, or their “ghost”, still lives on. “Temporary Tattoo” is a lyrically elaborate tune that covers the anxieties of being in a new relationship, and wondering if those worries are permanent or only temporary. “Picture in a Frame” (a rearrangement of the Tom Waits original) is a sentimental song about unconditional love- symbolized by putting someone’s “picture in a frame”. “Time to Miss You” ponders the significance of love and relationships, and the difficulty of being apart from the person you love the most. “I’ve Cried For You” finishes off the album in a somber, meaningful tone with the reflection of a relationship where one person gives their all, and the other takes and mistreats. “Ghost” the EP shows significant development in Julia’s arranging technique, with the melodic string quartet arrangement on “Ghost” and classical horn arrangement on “Picture in a Frame.” The songs stay true to Julia’s original piano sound, but also introduce electronic keyboard sounds/synth pads on songs “Picture in a Frame”, “Time to Miss You”, and “I’ve Cried For You”. “Ghost” the EP was recorded and produced at Jam Jar Studio in Westchester, NY by colleague Ash McMillan. Julia hopes people will listen and relate to her lyrical ponderings of love and appreciate the new, softer pop sound.

Julia Klot is a 20 y/o singer-songwriter based in Brooklyn, NY. With her original compositions, she creates melodic and intricate piano parts accompanied by her dynamic vocal range that resemble singer-songwriters such as Carol King and Elton John. Her most recent and debut album release, “Brooklyn” (2019) is an exciting 8 song journey through Julia’s use of intriguing and captivating melody, harmony, and rhythm. With each song, the album unfolds a poignant story that draws inspiration from missing home and starting anew. The album is riddled with acoustic guitar tunes of unrequited love, upbeat piano songs with full-band accompaniment, and elaborate string arrangements created by layering violin melodies to create swelling harmonies that speak in color and add distinct emotion to each song. With the release of her album Brooklyn, Julia performed to a packed house at Rockwood Music Hall. Julia is currently arranging musical content for her next album!

From the Staff

“We got an early listen to Julia’s upcoming EP. The first thing we noticed was the emphasis on the piano instrumentals and of course, Julia’s crystal clear voice. Each tracks brought a different vibe and idea, delivered with Julia’s distinct sounds. “i’ve cried for you” ends the EP strong with a bitter close to the story and also our personal favorite. Check out the official release on March 19! She might just be your new comfort artist.”
